Review: "Devil"(2010)-December 10, 2010

"Scared, just to walk to the computer to write a review." Now I admire Bob Chipman and his reviews on the Escapist, but on two accounts I disagree with him. The first two Resident Evil movies were Good and relevant, and "Devil" doesn't suck. The movie is terrifying. It might be appropriate to say it will scare the H out of you. If you want to be scared, then watch this movie. It is clever, even if you see some parts coming it will be good. Watch it, it is Scary. The tension will creep you out, then after wards, watch some "VeggieTales"!

Review: "Ingloriuos Bastards"(2009)-December 8-10, 2010

The thing I disliked the most about the movie was how it was promoted. The promotions for it are extremely far from what the movie actually is. The movie shouldn't even be called "Inglorious Bastards" but rather "Cinema", which is more relevant to the plot. The 'bastards' hardly have half the screen time, also Brad Pitt is not the star of this movie but just an actor in it. The movie however was Great. Sort of an action drama about World War II that has no actual scenes of battle other than a room full of guys shooting/not on the battlefield. The movie is divided into chapters which can cause the tendency to pause at each chapters conclusion, especially since the movie can feel long being near two and a half hours in length. It was good to have sparsity of the scenes with characters to make the story not about one of the groups but a collection of them all. There are many scenes of prolonged tension and little of shooting and explosions that combined give the movie its unique feel. The brutal violence though little is quite strong. The movie does weigh heavily on subtitles for German and French speaking parts. The movie has a great story and plot although it can get depressing. Nevertheless, Because of the way the film was made, "Inglorious Bastards" is a good movie.(despite the fact I didn't like it)

Review: "Deadgirl"(2008)- written November 15, 2010

This movie is a handful. It starts off like a usual horror movie, with some things typical, but it slowly tranforms into something..else. What would you do if you found a girl naked and chained on a table? What if she was dangerous, and had reasons for chains? What if she COULDN'T DIE? In "Deadgirl", two teenage boys stumble upon her while hanging out in an abandoned asylum. One of them takes advantage of this situation, the other feels differently. From here, the story awkwardly unfolds. More characters are introduced, things happen, and the main character feels a lot of stuff. It seems like his goal is to free this girl, which is difficult, but that is not his only struggle. These two points are what make the movie good, to see if he suceeds in overcoming his friend who is now symbolically his enemy, and if he wins his personal fight. Now "Deadgirl" is a good movie, which does have lots of nudity and sexual acts along with the strong language and some gore elements, but the ending should be questioned. Ask, at the end,...is the main character..a hero? A hidden message comes up at this point.., a question. A question of desire, and free will. A question that speaks to many teenagers all over. This movie is recommended, but only to appropriate mature audiances. Now this question is merely an observation/opinion that may be ignored but was found. I would suggest watching the movie first, but if you want the question now, here it is:

Altitude(2010)-November 14. 2010

Wathcing the credits now, 'Altitude' is an intense Thriller that I deem Oscar worthy! It has minimal blood and violence, a suggestive moment, and some language. This movie is Great, horror fans can watch it too. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Beautiful, amazing, and incredible would all describe "Altitude". Yes, it is about a plane though more so the people in it. The characters in the plane are so real and the actors are amazing. The story is so well written. I would call it a 'must see' / a 'must own' movie. Watch it! One of the best movies this year, on par with "Inception".

"Kynodontas"/"Dogtooth"(2009)-Written November 9, 2010

"Dogtooth" is is not in any way a horror movie, although it does share some of the same content. The movie has a lot of explicit material and one scene that might make you cringe, you would cover your mouth. The film is about a family that live by a particular set of rules. It is this family that keeps the viewers interest through the movie and their way of life the way it should be. "Dogtooth" is interesting but it is not complete in being a great movie, far from it but not near awful. Review: "Saw 3D"(2010)-The Final Chapter

It is the best 'Saw' movie, it is the worst 'Saw' movie. The Opening scene WILL blow you away, you WILL be on the edge of your seat, you will love it, and you will hate it. YOU WILL feel more grief and sadness then you have ever before in a 'Saw' film, you Will be disheartened. The gore is Amped up so much-if you thought that the previous movies were barely watchable or the traps were as bad as they could get, you haven't seen anything yet. You will feel so much. "Saw VI" had the tag-line: "The Game Comes Full Circle". Yet that tag-line is better suited for "Saw 3D", everything really comes together. This definitely is the best "Saw" movie, but it takes away so much that you can't love everything about it. It IS a great ending to the franchise, and it does not fail at being a great final chapter. The 3D is excellent and does not disappoint. The movie only let me down in one area, it seems that the writers were not that willing to grant the gift of life. I wish I could say more but, I am drained by this movie. Game Over.

Review: "Halloween II"(2009)-written October 28, 2010

For what has been too long in my opinion, since I when I promised, I have been slacking off in writing this review. Anyways, to be specific I will be reviewing the Director's Cut, but first why am I reviewing the sequel? Well Rob Zombie's remake of "Halloween" is a good movie but there are too many things that I personally find distasteful about it. Seeing "Halloween"(2007) would definitely be helpful in understanding its sequel, but I do struggle wondering if seeing it is Necessary. Moving forward....
"Halloween II"(2009) does have some really graphic and brutal violence with amounts nudity and Strong coarse language. However all of that is just stuff I don't care about, so what is it that makes this one of my favourite horror movies? Scout Taylor-Compton, Laurie Strode, and her connection with her brother Michael. Now I mention the actress Scout and her character in the movie separately because the story and the acting are both so great, they both deserve mention. A substantial difference between the Director's Cut and the Theatrical version is that most of the scenes/footage is about Laurie Strode. This shows So Much more of her and really gives her more depth. You may start to feel attached to Laurie and sad for her. The emotional connection with Laurie Strode is what gives this movie a foundation and excellent visual. She is at the heart of Halloween II. The way that Taylor-Compton acts on screen is like an extravagant fireworks display. Whenever she says 'Fuck', it is with great emotion and a deep penetrating punch. Brad Douriff, who plays the sheriff, also has great acting and is to be commended for his emotional display in a particular scene. As for the connection with Laurie and Michael, it's something else. The Ending is a beautiful sorrow which makes the movie wonderful. There is only one fault character wise and that's with Doctor Loomis. His actions are egotistic and unreasonable, but still, "Halloween II" is a great film.
