Review: "The Ward" (2011)- written July 21, 2011

Now this was an excellent movie, Scary and Awesome. At first it strongly resembled an episode from Season 5 of "Supernatural" called "Sam, Interrupted". This does take place in a mental institution so there were some things that seemed typical. Such as the doctors trying to 'help' are only making things worse for the patients, but let's talk about what the movie is. John Carpenter's "The Ward" has one of the scariest faces in horror. Something is attacking the patients of the ward, doctors and patients are all quiet about the disappearances. It doesn't always scare you in a typical way in fact it rarely or never does. Here is how I would describe the movie: It's like a scary ride but at the end you are given $5, then a dollar is taken away from you. Though a dollar was metaphorically lost, it is still a great movie. Now the end of the movie, and I mean the last second not just 'the end', is GREAT! It is what takes that dollar away but it is so Unique! You NEVER, EVER, see the main actress do THAT. Warning of disturbing death scenes. Have fun,...

Review: "Robot"/"Endhiran" (2010)- written July 12, 2011

I was watching a list of old Ray William Johnson =3 videos on youtube and when I got somwhere around 5 month old ones. The episode was called "Indian Action", in the video one of the 'viral videos' shown was a montage clip of this Indian action movie. Now it was only the action sequences that were shown and by American film standards, the visual effects were quite laughable, but then I watched the movie.

"Robot" is a movie where a, nevermind I don't want to describe what the movie is about, I just want to say it's awesome. It reminded me of "I,Robot"(2004) with Will Smith but if you didn't like that one, you just might like this. This movie is so amazing because of the character 'Chitti' the robot, along with the other main cast members. All of whom have great acting talent. The female lead is played by Aishwarya Rai, who also starred in "The Pink Panther 2" (as well as some other stuff).

What great thing to type about next? Well, this is an Indian film and so some song and dance have been added to this Great...Action...Drama. There are 6 total music numbers throughout the movie, basically all of which are great. Numbers 4 and 6 have this robotic element to them which can make it feel like a Black Eyed Peas video. Speaking of which, it would be impossible for anyone not to compare Aishwarya with Fergie in these sequences. The dancing parts of the film all take part in this imagined state with the two main people and the backup dancers, which is good.

Finally I will say something about the story. A scientist named Vasse finishes work on a robot he's been making for 10 years. Vasse intends his robot to be used in the military, so he is essentially superhuman. He tries to get it approved but he can't unless he can give Chitti emotions, I forget how that makes sense at the moment but whatever. Anyways, once Chitti gets emotions he starts to fall in love with his creators fiance, so to speak. That's all I'll say for now. "Robot", is definitely one of the best foreign films I have ever seen!

So now, just watch the movie and have a great time!
