Review: "The Blair Witch Project" (1999)- writen September 30, 2011

Over the years as a horror film fan and not, I have always heard of this 'Classic'. It is a movie so well known that hearing about it is eventually going to happen. I've only heard great things about this movie, and now I finally got to see it. I didn't like it, I felt like it wasted time. There is little excitement and when there is it soon followed by a legnthly day scene, afterwards a creepy(ish)night scene that is very short. This sequence is repeated several times and does not make it fun to watch. The day scenes are usually fights and more fights between the three main characters. It simply drags on too long with little moments of intrigue in between. Then there is the ending. An ending that ends in confusion. I don't know what happened, I don't know what will happen. It ends with you wondering why you watched the film up 'til this point. There is nothing. Complete dissatisfaction, not a movie for my taste.

Review: "Dog Soldiers" (2002)- written September 26, 2011

Now, I can say that for the first half hour or so that I didn't think much of the movie. I was set up for disappointment. However, I ended up quite liking the movie. I admit, I do like it better than I will review it. The story was actually pretty decent, more so after the first bit. You can probably guess what's coming, as always in these kind of movies. It does have some humor in it, including a great joke in a time not really for laughter. The gore was surprisingly..visceral and strong in some places. You do see an animal that most people like get killed early on but you don't need to worry when you see the second one. Swearing is abundant, a lot of it Scottish/English terms. "Dog Soldiers" is a pretty good 'bad movie', but in my mind it's a great 'bad movie'.

Review: "Scooby-Doo and the Legend of the Phantosaur" (2011)- written September 8, 2011

Now I suppose it is strange to be writting a review of a childrens movie on this blog but I Love Scooby-Doo, but really, I watched it and it was the best Scooby-Doo movie since (for me personally) the Cyber Chase. The animation is beautiful and the jokes were so funny it had me laughing. For a Scooby-Doo veteran like myself, it wasn't hard at all to 'figure out the mystery' and who was behind it but that was no deterent for how good a movie it was. New, fresh, and surprisingly good, I recommend giving it a watch.

Review: "Grave Encounters" (2011)- written September 8, 2011

So, "Grave Encounters" is a pretty good movie. This group of people are making a tv show called Grave Encounters, a really, extremely, cheesy, I'm not gonna watch this, sort of show. Now this is one of those movies that claims to be 100% real and has no special effects. There is even an introduction by a producer saying this. There is a lot of set up of the show they are making which takes up the first chunk of the movie, but the pace quickens once they get locked inside the haunted building. Now this movie is just a great scary movie. Reminding me of Paranormal activity, only kind of better. Horror and tension is maintained throughout once things pick up(and hair). It is a terrific movie, fair to say that it does have disturbing content. Along this frightening journey with the television crew, you will experience fear just like they do.
